TEACHER OF THE YEAR !!!! Chameeka Still The profession of an educator should not just be a job for a check on predetermined days each month, it should be a call performed with commitment and passion. My decision to be an educator was not a long-term aspiration; however my first encounter of exposure to students made me feel as though I belonged. My journey as an educator began as a substitute teacher in a Camden City high school. Walking into the classroom I felt nervous, but anxious to share my knowledge. The nervousness subsided when the students exhibited to me that I was a needed asset to their educational future and beyond. That day was the beginning of a long-term goal to instill valuable educational tools in each student within my presence. As an educator, it is my firm belief that no student is the same as any other and no school day is ever repeated. Therefore, I am ambitious to set-forth the opportunity for every student to excel. Education is everywhere and the only way to allow students to reach his/her fullest potential is to create an environment of inviting learning. Students should be able to have the security to know that learning is an experiment, and it is through hypothesis that a learner is able to reach the theory of education. Every forward step made by a student is a baby step towards my life-long achievement to educate. One will agree, to be an educator it takes full commitment and endurance. Every committed step is fuel to build endurance through the progression to student success, hence building my character of dedication, strong-will, and leadership. My dedication assures student learning/excellence through hard-work; in turn expressing that strong-will opens opportunities to exceed above others. In closing, an educator makes every child feel as though they are incapable of failure; and provides the strategies to strengthen the skills where in they may have previously experienced difficulties. Therefore, I am educating individual students to create individual success. |
